Sadly, we have already said goodbye to six of our dear classmates. Their absence reminds us that time is precious. The next milestone cannot be taken for granted. Our official reunion getaway will be hosted at Citrus Waskaduwa, a stylish five-star beach resort on Sri Lanka’s golden southern coastline. 147TH BATTLE OF THE BLUES (March 12, 13 & 14, 2026)

While our time at Royal College gave us an education to be proud of, it was never just about academics. What truly shaped us into who we are today were the friendships we forged, the bonds strengthened through sports, music, drama, clubs, associations, trips and hangouts, and the leadership skills we nurtured along the way. Those experiences defined us far more than the textbooks ever did.

And of course, nothing captures the spirit of Royal life better than the annual Royal–Thomian Big Match. The anticipation, the camaraderie, the noise, the colours, and the thrill of those two days, later extended into three, remain etched in our memories. It was, and always will be, the heartbeat of our school days.a The match will be played at the SSC grounds, Colombo.

Now, more than 40 years since we left College, many of us have not set foot at a Royal–Thomian. What better way to mark our 60th Birthday Reunion than to go back together, to relive those golden days, but this time with a beer cup in hand, no prefects, no teachers, no worries. Just picture all of us together, cheering, laughing, and capturing that group photo at the match. That image will be priceless, a memory for the ages.

Based on our recent discussions, there was strong enthusiasm for the Stallions Tent, the place to be. As one of the hardest tickets to secure, we’ve moved early to make special arrangements for our group. A limited number of memberships and tickets have been set aside for those who confirm and pay in advance.

Here’s how it works:

The Stallions Tent operates on a membership basis. Tickets are only available to members. So, you have to become a member first before you can purchase tickets.

Membership is usually restricted, but the administrators have graciously agreed to accommodate us, knowing most of our group are based overseas and unlikely to attend every year.

That said, nothing prevents those who wish to continue attending regularly from doing so.

This opens the door for us to enjoy the best atmosphere of the match while being together again. Please note, however, that tickets are strictly for old boys only, not spouses or children.

Day 4 – March 18, 2026: Ella ➜ Kandy (by Train)

After breakfast at 7am, check out and head to Ella Station for your first-class train journey to Kandy, at 9.30am, often described as one of the most scenic rail routes in the world. Watch misty peaks, tea gardens, and rustic villages roll by as the train winds through Sri Lanka’s breathtaking hill country. Lunch is not included in your itinerary but you can arrange with the hotel to provide you a packed meal or short eats for your train ride.

Arrive in Kandy, the cultural capital, by mid-afternoon around 4pm. Visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic, housed within the royal palace complex. This revered Buddhist temple enshrines the Tooth Relic of the Buddha, a symbol of Sri Lanka’s spirituality and ancient monarchy.

Later, check into The Golden Crown Hotel, relax, and enjoy a sumptuous dinner.

Day 5 – March 19, 2026: Kandy ➜ Matale ➜ Kandalama

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Kandalama, with enriching cultural stops along the way.

En Route:

Matale Spice Garden – wander through fragrant plantations of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and pepper. Learn about Sri Lanka’s world-renowned spice heritage and taste a refreshing herbal brew.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
Dambulla Cave Temple – a UNESCO World Heritage Site with five ancient cave sanctuaries filled with murals and hundreds of Buddha statues. The climb rewards you with sweeping views across the plains below. (Duration: 1 hr approx.)

By late afternoon, arrive at the iconic Heritance Kandalama, a masterpiece of architecture designed by Geoffrey Bawa. Built seamlessly into the cliffside overlooking the lake, it’s one of Sri Lanka’s most remarkable eco-hotels.

Day 6 – March 20, 2026: Sigiriya ➜ Colombo

Rise early for one of the highlights of the tour, a climb to the world-famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress, often called the Lion’s Rock.
Explore the royal gardens, ancient frescoes, mirror wall, and colossal lion’s paws before reaching the summit for awe-inspiring panoramic views. It’s a perfect mix of adventure, archaeology, and natural beauty.

(Duration: 2 – 3 hrs approx.)

After descending, return to Heritance Kandalama for breakfast, check out, and begin the journey back to Colombo.

(Travel time approx. 4 hrs)

Lunch is not included in the itinerary but we will break on the way to Colombo for late lunch or short eats and tea.

What is a Sri Lanka Tourist ETA?

A Sri Lanka Tourist ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is an official entry approval issued electronically to foreign nationals visiting Sri Lanka for tourism purposes. It allows short-term travel and is obtained online before arrival.

How long does it take to receive a Tourist ETA?

Most Tourist ETA applications are approved within 24 to 48 hours. In some cases, especially during peak travel periods, weekends, or public holidays, processing may take longer.

How will I receive my ETA approval?

Once approved, the ETA is sent to the email address provided in the application. Travellers are advised to save or print a copy for travel.

How long is the Tourist ETA valid for travel after it is issued?

Once issued, a Sri Lanka Tourist ETA is typically valid for entry for up to 6 months from the date of approval.
Travellers must enter Sri Lanka within this validity period. If the ETA expires before travel, a new application is required.

What is the permitted length of stay under a Tourist ETA?

The maximum stay allowed under a Tourist ETA is 30 days.

Is the 30-day stay calculated from the date of issue or the date of arrival?

The 30-day stay is calculated from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka, not from the date the ETA is issued.
