Tanzania currently does not have many or rather any mandatory vaccines for tourists, but there are some requirements and recommendations👇
A Yellow Fever vaccination is required only if you are arriving from a country with a risk of Yellow Fever transmission or if you have transited through such a country for more than 12 hours. For most tourists coming directly from countries without Yellow Fever, this vaccine is “not mandatory”.
It is also “advisable” to ensure you are up to date on routine vaccinations such as👇
* Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)
* Diphtheria-Tetanus-Pertussis (DTP)
* Polio
* Hepatitis B
“Recommended Vaccines” include👇
* Hepatitis A: Recommended for most travellers due to contaminated food or water.
* Typhoid: Especially for those visiting smaller cities or rural areas.
* Malaria Prophylaxis: While there is no vaccine, anti-malarial medication is highly recommended, as Tanzania is a malaria-endemic region.
* Rabies: Recommended for those who may be in close contact with animals.
Please don't feel obligated to take every vaccine available. It's important to do your research and consult with a travel clinic or your doctor to help you make informed decisions.
While it’s not mandatory, we highly recommend you do so by enrolling in your country’s foreign travel registry, if such a program exists for your country of citizenship. This will assist your local embassy or the consulate to get in touch with you if there’s an emergency. Also, if your family or friends can’t reach you with urgent news while you’re traveling, the embassy can try and contact you on their behalf.
The benefits to informing your embassy include:👇

To answer your questions, let’s take a close look at what’s involved and how your day might unfold.
Lion King's guides will greet us at our hotel in the morning for a brief orientation before embarking on our journey in their vehicles to Kilimanjaro National Park's eastern entrance at Marangu Gate located at 1,860 m / 6,046 ft. The drive from Arusha to Marangu Gate typically takes around 2 hours.
Upon arrival, our group will handle the necessary formalities, such as obtaining climbing permits and registering with the rescue service, before commencing the trek to Mandara Hut located at 2,700 m / 8,860 ft.
The trekking route traverses through the rainforest, where tropical showers are common, so it's advisable to bring along raincoats.
Lunch will be provided upon reaching the camp, and afterwards, we will have the option to embark on a 1.5-hour hike to a nearby crater.
Following the hike, we’ll descend back to the park's exit at Marangu Gate, where our vehicle will be ready to transport us back to our hotel.
Elevation Change: From Marangu Gate at 1,860 m / 6,046 ft) -to - Mandara Hut at 2,700 m / 8,860 ft - and back to - Marangu Gate at 1,860 m / 6,046 ft.
Hiking Distance: 22 km
Hiking Duration: 7-8 hours.
Guests are advised to bring the following equipment:
For those who might perceive the Kilimanjaro day hike as overly demanding due to physical exertion or altitude-related apprehensions, know that you're not alone. Based on your preference, our guides will split us up into groups and arrange separate routes for varying distances. Those up for the full trek can go ahead and conquer it for some well-deserved bragging rights, while others can opt for a more leisurely pace.
If Kilimanjaro doesn't quite suit your taste, no problem at all! We'll organize a city tour of Arusha along with a visit to a coffee plantation.
Did you know Tanzania is renowned for its high-quality Arabica coffee beans, primarily cultivated in Kilimanjaro, Mbeya, and Arusha regions? Tanzanian coffee stands out for its distinct flavour profile, boasting bright acidity, a rich texture, and a delightful blend of fruity and floral notes.
